Congratulations to the scratch winner, Chris Hayward (Osborne) 72 gross,2nd Darren Masterton (Osborne) 73 gross and third Nat Riddett (Shanklin) 75 gross.
Handicap Division One, Darren Masterton (Osborne) 71 Nett, 2nd Paul Moreton 71 Nett and third Nick Matthews (Newport) 73 Nett on countback, and Division Two, Luke Chessell (Newport) 66 Nett,2nd Steve Linington (Ryde) 67. 3rd William Johnson (Ryde ) 74 Nett. Overall Handicap trophy winner Luke Chessell (Ryde).
Vets’ winner Steve Linnington (Ryde) 67 nett,2nd Harry Lythgoe (Ryde) 74 nett and Steve Rowley (Ryde) 75 nett.
I want to thank Newport Golf Club for hosting the IWGU Autumn meeting, especially Terry Philips, for his hard work in ensuring the morning went off smoothly. Newport should be proud to have a great ambassador for Newport Golf Club and a great Club Captain.
I would like to acknowledge Alan Dudley and his team for keeping me updated on the course conditions and ensuring, to the best of their ability, that our players enjoy playing on the course due to course maintenance.
We must not forget our president, Adie Adams, for starting in the afternoon and for his presentation.
I have rescheduled the postponed Terry Riddet Memorial Trophy on Sunday, 22nd March 2026 at Ryde Golf Club.
I will also be sending the league tables and 2026 fixtures in the next few weeks.

The Isle of Wight Golf Union Championships were played at Freshwater this weekend.
Friday marked the start of the event with the Brabazon Trophy. It was an excellent victory for Zane Cohen (Westridge), with 38 points, and a loss on countback for Kevin Garrett (Freshwater), who also scored 38 points. Third place went to Brian Wright (Osborne), with 37 points, followed by Steve Rowley in fourth place, also on countback.
Around 70 entrants participated on Saturday, with the opportunity to enter 36-hole Scratch (Haworth Cup), 36-hole Handicap (Vice Presidents Trophy), 18-hole Handicap (Presidents Salver), and 18-hole Vets (Capel Morris Trophy). The top four in the Haworth Cup qualify for the
McMaster's trophy, which will be played on Sunday in a
Matchplay Semi-Final and Final format.
Winner of the 36-hole Handicap (Vice Presidents Trophy) Richard Harrison (Ryde) 136 ,2nd place Matt Hodder (Cowes) 137 and 3rd Keith Wright (Freshwater) 137.
The 18-hole Handicap (Presidents Salver) winner Rob Hull (Ryde) 64 nett,2nd Paul Spreadbury (Osborne) 65 nett, and 3rd place Paul Moreton (Ryde) 66 nett.
18-hole Vets (Capel Morris Trophy). The winner of the over 55 competition was Tony Williams (Shanklin), who reclaimed the Capel Morris trophy from last year with an exact score of 67 nett. Second was Keith Wright (Freshwater) with 68 nett, on countback over Kevin Garrett (Freshwater) with 68 nett.
36-hole Scratch (Haworth Cup) won by Nat Riddett (Shanklin) 140 gross,2nd Richie Harrison (Ryde) 142 gross and 3rd George Foreman (Shanklin) 144 gross. Fourth place Paul Spreadbury (Osborne) 145 gross
The Semifinal started with George Foreman versus Richie Harrison. George won 5 and 4; the other semi-final was between Nat Riddett and Paul Spreadbury . Nat beat Paul 4 and 3.
The final between Nat Riddett and George Foreman produced quality golf. Nat Riddett became the McMaster's Cup Champion, winning by one hole.
